Fri, September 21, 2007 - 4:27 PMyes, i loved her calling bellatrix a bitch, that was beautiful. i liked seeing harry and his crew as parents, that was touching. and harry getting to talk to his parents for a minute via the resurrection stone. and harry getting applauded by all the headmasters and headmistresses at the end, i admit i teared up a little then. -

Sat, September 22, 2007 - 9:07 PMI also liked the bit with Harry and his son where he said it would be ok if he were a Sytherin, and it was really neat to see Neville come into his own. What did you guys think of the Malfoys at the end? -

Mon, September 24, 2007 - 11:08 PMI'm rereading it now and this time around I really savored the "Silver Doe" chapter. I love how Ron comes back, I love that Snape is helping them and his patronus is Harry's mother, I love how Ron defeats his insecurities and destroys the horcrux. I think it's my favorite chapter. -

Tue, September 25, 2007 - 3:59 PMYup, while I like seeing Neville become more of a man, seeing Ron get over the insecurities that have plagued him for so many books now was absolutely necessary for me to be satisfied with this last book.

Wed, September 26, 2007 - 8:10 PMI'm liking it less the more I think about it. Some stuff seemed contrieved just to fit the plot (Snape's death, all the wandlore stuff) -

Wed, September 26, 2007 - 8:14 PMIMO, the best part was Snape's story. Yes, the whole love theme was getting old but I guess I'm just enough of a hopeless romantic to have been really touched by all that. Who knew that Snape could really be capable of such emotion? -

Me too. For every reason you mentioned, plus it leads up to my favorite line in the next chapter when Ron is saying how wise DD was to give him the deluminator because Ron thought that DD knew that he would run out on Harry and Hermione and Harry says, "No, He must've known you'd always want to come back."
I get choked up every time I read it. -

Me too. I realize how attached I am to Harry, Ron, and Hermione's friendship. The most distressing parts of past books have been when two of them aren't speaking or arguing. And I got completely misty when I reread the Troll scene in Book 1 earlier this summer thinking, "this is when their friendship began." And Rowling's line about there are some things you can't go through without becoming friends. Yeah.
